Kurt is a young man who said goodbye to our church this past Sunday. Kurt has been a leader in the church, serving as an elder for several years. He has also lead a small group for over 10 years, has taught Sunday school, served in children’s church, started and ran a midweek memorization program for children, and served in a host of other ministries. Kurt is going to seminary with a wife and 3 young daughters. He leaves a very good paying job as an engineer for a defense company and all the security that brings for the uncertainty of ministry. However Kurt will graduate in a few years with some major advantages. He will already know what it means to labor in the work of the church while also having experienced both the ugly side of serving sheep as well the blessing in serving the flock of God.
We wish God’s blessing on you Kurt,
Your brothers and sisters who love you at Grace Bible Church.

Give Kurt my regards. It is a joy to see a good man preparing for ministry. It won’t be an easy road but for the man who is called to preach and shepherd God’s people, there is no other road to take.
I made this my prayer when I entered the ministry six years ago and it is still posted in my study. Kurt, this is my prayer for you today brother.
“Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me save that Thou art –
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son,
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance now and always,
Thou and Thou only first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.”
Hey Billy, I will. I am going up this weekend and visit him. Have a good day tomorrow in the Lord.
