I recently purchased Doug Moo’s new commentary, The Letters to the Colossians and to Philemon in the Pillar New Testament Commentary series by Eerdmans and have appreciated reading the first 100 plus pages. Moo is an excellent New Testament scholar and his careful but thorough handling of exegetical issues is an asset to pastors and scholars alike. This is Moo’s second commentary in the Pillar series (James) and his commentary on Romans in the NICNT series has won high praise from scholars.

The Pillar series has produced some 10 volumes to date and it serves a significant role in scholarship and ministry. Though not overly technical, its content demonstrates a substantial knowledge of all significant issues and is a helpful tool for student and pastor alike.
